TIP (Snodgrass) repair can be used in patients with distal hypospadias who need reoperation as long as the penis is straight and tissues are healthy. It is most commonly used in patients who have glans dehiscence. This is where the head of the penis opens up after surgery – usually 2 weeks afterwards. Rates of glans dehiscence vary by surgeon. We recommend asking your surgeon what his/her rates of glans dehiscence are, and how those rates are determined.
