Surgery Expectations

We continue to monitor the latest medical information regarding the coronavirus, and adjust our safety precautions as needed to keep our patients, their families, and our staff healthy.

As another precaution for your safety, every family is assigned a private waiting room upon arrival to the PARC Surgery Center.

Each room provides tv and internet for your convenience, and you can bring food and drink to consume there as you wish.

Planning Your Travel

The safest way to travel here is by car, and after the operation your son can safely and comfortably sit in his usual car seat for the return home.

It is also safe to fly, the surgery center is located 15 minutes from DFW airport and 30 minutes from Love Field Airport.

Planning Your Stay

There are a number of hotels near the surgery center. Please see the “lodging options” tab under patient resources for a list of hotels that do give discounts to our patients.

Before your visit

Our nurses will be calling before your visit to review the recent health of everyone in your household and their contacts. If anyone has had symptoms of any illness (fever,coughing,wheezing,rash) please notify the staff in order to avoid any cancellations on the day of your surgery.

The day before surgery

It is not required that you have an in-person visit prior to surgery. You will be able to ask any questions you may have the morning of surgery. The anesthesiologist will contact you the evening before surgery, so please watch for his call. For patients whose surgery is Monday, expect a call Sunday evening.

The day of surgery

Our private waiting rooms have limited space and so we ask that only close family members accompany the patient.

The nurse will do a final review of recent symptoms, take your temperatures, and weigh your son. The anesthesiologist will perform his examination. You will also have the option of what pharmacy you would like to use to fill the required prescriptions for post surgical care. These prescriptions will be sent to the pharmacy during the surgery and can be picked up prior to surgery ending. Please make sure that if you will require a wheelchair for after surgery, you bring it with you to the surgery center the morning of your appointment

After surgery your doctor will explain what was done and what to expect afterwards. You will then be reunited with the patient in the postop area and the nurse will go over all discharge instructions with you in detail.

All patients are responsible for their transportation home and for provision of an adult caretaker.

Last minute changes

As we get back to a “normal” atmosphere post pandemic we want to ensure the safety of each and every one of our patients. Please be vigilant in notifying the staff of any and all changes and symptoms you as the patient or your child may be exhibting prior to surgery. Any patient that it is deemed not safe to undergo anesthesia will be rescheduled.

Please also make note of any diaper rash that your child may develop in the week leading up to surgery.

Schedule changes can happen and are usually due to extenuating circumstances. Our staff will do their best to notify you of any changes in the schedule as promptly as possible.
